Food Pantry
Jean Gutshall is the Executive Director of our Food Pantry. Jean supervises the many volunteers, food donations and orders, and new applicants. The Food Pantry is a ministry which has a history of over 20 years and has helped thousands of people in that time. The Food Pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 AM to 11 AM. If you would like to volunteer or would like more information you can E-mail her here.
Food donations for the Food Pantry are provided by area merchants, our Boy Scout troop, our local Post Office employees, area churches and grocery stores. In addition, monetary grants are received from state and federal grant programs, and the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. Special offerings are also received by area churches for this purpose.
Our Food Pantry would not be possible without the many volunteers who staff it every week. They provide a caring and supportive service to those who use the Food Pantry. Volunteers do everything from unloading trucks to sorting items and stocking shelves to packing grocery bags and assisting customers in carrying items to their cars.
Storage of cases of food is generally not a problem because the food moves rapidly through the Food Pantry and into the hands of those in need.
