First Church

Health Ministry

What is it?

First Church coordinates a health care ministry program in the Huntingdon Area. This program helps to strengthen existing ministries to the whole person—body,  mind, and spirit—and provides resources for members and their families which help attain this goal.

Working under the direction of church leadership, First Church’s nurses are consultants and resources for the development of the church’s health care ministry.

On the fourth Sunday of every month they do free blood pressure checks following the Sunday morning worship service. They also provide this web page which is full of health news which changes daily (see below). So be sure to save this page in your favorites and check back often.

Nurses responding to health needs within the congregational setting.

What’s their role?

They provide information to raise the health awareness of the church community through a variety of options which include classes, workshops, articles in the church newsletter and on the web site, and health fairs.

They advocate for individuals by offering knowledge of options for health and a supportive presence as members of the church make choices for their lives.

They help to identify the many health and wellness needs within the faith community and coordinate resources within the congregation.

First Church stocks a number of health care equipment which we loan for temporary use so you do not have to purchase it. Your Health care Minister can tell you what’s available.
