Education
First Church is committed to providing quality Christian education where learning is both fun and safe for children and adults. The Rev. Debbie Sluder, our Minister of Nurture, has over twenty years experience in the field of Christian Education and is constantly creating new and innovative ways to help people learn more about Christ and the Christian way of life.
We offer a variety of learning experiences for all ages throughout the year. If you do not see something here that interests you be sure to check back as the subjects change regularly. If you would like us to offer something on a particular subject be sure to let Debbie know. You can reach her here.
Sunday Mornings
Sunday mornings at 9 AM you will find a variety of opportunities
for Christian learning. You can choose from short and long-term
classes. Check back from time to time to see new subjects
which are being offered.
Adult Bible Studies offers a survey of the Bible and is lecture in style. Student books are large print for those with visual difficulties and features ways of application of the Scriptures to life. Topics often correspond to the pastor’s weekend sermon. The class meets in the Church Lounge.
An Elective Adult Sunday School Class meets in Room 202. A discussion class led by Debbie Sluder, the Elective Adult Class is a fast paced, never dull hour of laughter, study, soul searching and learning how to apply Biblical principles to life today. The current study is about death and how we view and deal with it.
For Children we offer Christian education during the worship hour. Following the Children’s Message each week the children attend the K.I.C.K.S. program (Kids In Christ’s Kingdom on Sunday). Each week offers a engaging, fast paced, hands on learning experience geared to Kindergarten through Grade 5.
For Youth we offer a youth Sunday School class for kids Grade 6 through 12 in the Youth Room on the second floor. Projects, timely discussions and Christian principles and ethics are part of the curriculum. Here is where youth learn to apply there Christian knowledge in every day life.
